We've been driving over hill and dale through Kentucky, Tennessee, and Indiana visiting everyone we share blood with. Jeepers, we're worn out, but full of love and kisses. Gary's folks and Skye's sweet cousins came over today for turkey and yummers. I swear these three girls are gonna be Charlie's Angels when they get older. We've shared so many meals at the Sheans' home in Frankfort already this fall, and it was nice to be able to repay the favor.
We were glad to have the chance for Skye to meet Gary's Aunt Diane and my cousin Luke for the first time. Diane had puppies and a moving Christmas tree for Skye's ecstatic amusement. Luke, an aspiring child director, helped Skye put on a showing of his original puppet show (her first ever) and whooped her butt in her first air hockey game.
Mo, Skye's shortened form of "Grammo," my amazing spunky Grandmother, gave Skye an heirloom doll cradle and quilt this Thanksgiving. She, my mother, aunt, and myself all played with it as children. Skye was so excited to see her cousin "Baby Kelton" now that he's out of the hospital and rivaling her in the pudgy department. It was great to see my entire side of the family all together for a short time this Thanksgiving. Skye was awestruck by the sheer number of us all, but soon continued pulling the hand of whichever person she fancied and asked them to "come play wid' me." I'm so glad they didn't miss out on that soft sweet hand tugging at their hearts. This is why we moved.
